Habitat: Ponds, slow-moving water. Canada south to SC; west to IL, IA.
Blooms: May-September
Active Chemical Ingredient: antagonistic alkaloids

Use of Specimen:
  • chills associated with fevers
  • poulice on swellings/inflamations, wounds, contusions
  • roots used for gum, skin, and stomach inflammations
